Travel to Alaska West includes four main steps.
- Flying to Anchorage on any major carrier at least one day prior to your trip.
- Overnight stay in Anchorage.
- Flying from Anchorage to Quinhagak.
- Traveling by boat from Quinhagak to Alaska West Lodge site 30 minutes upriver.
Flight Schedule
Each season Alaska West arranges and organizes a charter flight from Anchorage to Quinhagak. The details and exact itinerary for the charter are sent to our guests 30 days prior to the start of your trip. Our season of operation is from mid-June to the end of August, all trips for our 2021 season will be on a Sunday-Sunday schedule.
Booking the Flights to the Lodge
Alaska West will arrange all flight reservations from Anchorage to the Alaska West camp. Payment for this flight is made during the invoice process for the trip.
Quinhagak to Alaska West
When you arrive in Quinhagak, you will be met on the airstrip by Alaska West staff. You will be transported to the boats for the 30-minute ride upriver to our facility. You’ll be exposed to any weather conditions for this trip so make your raingear and warm protective clothing is accessible.
Guests will typically arrive at Alaska West around lunchtime on Sunday. This is a non-guided fishing day, but provides a great opportunity to unpack, relax, get your gear rigged and enjoy an extended happy hour.
