Travel to Alaska West includes five main steps.
- Flying to Anchorage on any major carrier at least one day prior to your trip.
- Overnight stay in Anchorage.
- Flying from Anchorage to Bethel.
- Flying from Bethel to Quinhagak.
- Traveling by boat from Quinhagak to Alaska West camp location 30 minutes upriver.
For 2020, the flights between Anchorage and Bethel, and between Bethel and Quinhagak will be arranged for you by us. Total travel time between Anchorage and Quinhagak will be approximately 2 hours depending on the load and of course weather. Flights are scheduled to depart Anchorage for Bethel at 7:30 AM on Sundays. The return flight to Anchorage is scheduled to arrive in Anchorage around 4:30 PM on Sundays, weather permitting of course. Alaska West recommends booking your return flight home after 7:00 PM.
Booking the Flights to the Lodge
Alaska West will arrange all flight reservations from Anchorage to the Alaska West camp. Payment for this flight is made during the invoice process for the trip. You do not need to contact Ravn at all prior to your trip.
Quinhagak to Alaska West
When you arrive in Quinhagak, you will be met on the airstrip by Alaska West staff. You will be transported to the boats for the 30-minute ride upriver to our facility. You’ll be exposed to any weather conditions for this trip so make your warm protective clothing accessible.
Guests will typically arrive at Alaska West around lunchtime on Sunday. This is a non-guided fishing day, but provides a great opportunity to unpack, relax, get your gear rigged and enjoy an extended happy hour.
Please remember that travel in bush Alaska requires flexibility and that a variety of factors including weather, may impact your travel and therefore your arrival times.
